How to Do a Free People Search in Florida

Florida is one of the most user friendly states to conduct a free people search online.  And, you can do most, if not all of it for free.  The following is a brief summary of how to do a free people search in Florida. Fortunately, you don’t need to be a trained investigator to do it.  You just need to know where to look for the information.  The more information you have about the person before you start, the easier the search will be.  At the very least, it helps tremendously if you have the name of the person you’re searching for.  While that does sound like common sense,  people do change their names for various reasons.

Start by going to a white page directory online.  Type in the person’s name and Florida for the state.  Most sites will let you omit a city, and will let you use an initial for the first name.  This will usually return a lot of different names, so it would probably be best using the person’s full name first.  If it’s a rather common name, it will give you a bunch of results to sift through.  Some of the better sites will occasionally have an age listed as well.  Usually you can find an address and phone number associated with the person if they don’t have an unpublished phone number or have their information blocked.

If you know the city or area the person lives in, you can go directly to the county’s home page.  From there, you should find a link to the property appraiser’s page.  Each county will be set up slightly different, but there should be an area to conduct a search by owner.  If the person owns any real estate property in that county, they will listed there.  That information should provide an address, information about the property, as well as tax information about the property.

From the county home page, you should also see a link for the county clerk’s office.  This also will vary in content and how to do the search.  But generally, you’ll just need to input a name for the search.  This site will usually have a separate search area for criminal cases, civil cases, and traffic citations.  They most likely won’t give an address for the person, but should show the name, date of birth, and what kind of court cases or arrests that individual has been involved in.  This information will be county specific, and will only show cases for that particular county, regardless if the person lived there or not.

And lastly, don’t forget about using good old fashioned social media sites, and even dating websites.  You can do a search with a person’s name and enter a location in most of them.  Some of them do require a specific city, but others let you use a general area like a state or general mile radius from a major city.
